Privacy Policy
Walnut Tree Sanctuary cares about your personal data. This page sets out what we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Who is responsible
Walnut Tree Sanctuary, a French association [loi 1901], registered at 1603 Chemin du Salut, 82370 Saint-Nauphary, France. Association number: TBC. Legal representative: [NAME]. Contact: hello@walnuttreesanctuary.org.
Because we are established in France, French and EU data protection law applies wherever you live.
What we collect, and why
Adoption application.
Name, contact details, date of birth, occupation, employer, household composition, children's ages, other animals, type of housing, and your answers about your daily life. We use this only to judge whether a particular dog will settle in your home. Lawful basis: steps taken at your request before an adoption agreement.
Volunteer form.
Name, contact details, date of birth, occupation, emergency contact, public liability insurance details, availability and signature. Lawful basis: your volunteer agreement and our duty to keep people safe on site.
Health data. The volunteer form asks about allergies and any medication. This is special category data under Article 9 of the GDPR. We collect it only for your safety at the sanctuary, on the basis of your explicit consent, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.
Under-18s.
Our volunteer form allows minors with a parent or guardian's signature. We do not collect a minor's data without it.
Browsing. The site is hosted by Wix, which sets cookies needed to run it and produces visitor statistics. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or retargeting tools.
Donations.
Donations go through PayPal, Leetchi and GoFundMe. Your card and bank details are handled by them and never pass through this site. We never see or store them.
Who can see it
The people at the sanctuary handling your application, and our technical providers: Wix (site hosting and the volunteer form) and 123FormBuilder (the adoption forms). We do not sell, trade or rent your data to anyone. Some providers may store data outside the European Union, in which case the transfer is covered by the safeguards the GDPR requires. [VERIFY with each provider before publishing.]
How long we keep it
Successful adoption applications: the dog's lifetime, then three years. Unsuccessful applications: one year. Volunteer records: the length of your involvement, then three years. Health data: deleted when your involvement ends.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive it in a portable form, and you can withdraw consent at any time. You can also give us instructions about what happens to your data after your death, which is a right French law provides. Email hello@walnuttreesanctuary.org and we will reply within [30 days].
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the CNIL, France's data protection authority, at www.cnil.fr.
