Bridget & Bonnie
SPONSOR ME
Bridget and Bonnie's story began in Romania's Lancrăm shelter, where they arrived with their brother Benji on 28 July 2025. Just a few weeks later, on 22 August 2025, they were rescued and given a chance at a different future.
The three siblings were fortunate to be placed with Marijke, our most experienced foster carer—a remarkable 70-year-old Dutch woman who left her life behind to dedicate herself to rescuing and rehabilitating Romania's forgotten dogs. Sadly, Benji was lost along the way, but Bridget and Bonnie continue their journey.
Both girls are extremely fearful dogs and carry the emotional scars of their past. For the last ten months, they have lived inside Marijke's home, surrounded by patience, kindness, and stability. Progress has been slow, but it has been real. Bridget has recently started playing with other dogs, seeks out Marijke's presence, and is beginning to show interest in human interaction. Bonnie is making progress too, quietly building confidence at her own pace.
Their road to recovery is far from over. When they return to the sanctuary, they will continue their rehabilitation and learn that the world can be a safe place. They may need a long time before they fully trust people, and they may always remain sensitive dogs, but every small step forward is a victory.
By sponsoring Bridget and Bonnie, you are helping two vulnerable sisters continue their journey from fear to trust and giving them the time, care, and security they need to finally feel safe.
