Brooklyn's journey began at the Lancrăm high-kill shelter in Transylvania, Romania, where he arrived on 7 August 2025. From the very beginning, it was clear that Brooklyn was a timid dog, but beneath his shyness was a gentle curiosity and a desire to connect with people.

Like many sensitive dogs, Brooklyn struggled with life in the shelter. The noise, stress, and uncertainty of the environment made it difficult for him to thrive, and we knew he deserved the opportunity to experience something better. In September 2025, Walnut Tree Sanctuary stepped in and gave him that chance.

After leaving Lancrăm, Brooklyn was placed with our partner foster, Cera, in Bulbucata, south of Bucharest. There, he shares his space with two of our smaller sanctuary dogs, who are also patiently waiting for their turn to move forward in life.

When we spent an afternoon with Brooklyn in May, he showed us exactly who he is. Gentle, sweet, and incredibly affectionate, Brooklyn loves human attention. While he can be a little shy when meeting new people, it doesn't take long for his loving nature to shine through. He is especially fond of giving kisses and quietly seeking affection from those he trusts.

Brooklyn is not a dog who demands attention. Instead, he wins hearts through his soft nature, his kindness, and his quiet desire to be loved. There is something incredibly touching about the way he gently reaches out to people once he feels safe.

After everything he has experienced, Brooklyn deserves the comfort, security, and love of a family of his own. We hope to welcome him to the sanctuary soon, where he can continue building his confidence and take the next step towards the happy future he deserves.
