Dana was two years old when she arrived at the high-kill shelter of Lancrăm, Transylvania, Romania, in mid-September 2025. Like so many medium-sized black dogs, she was easily overlooked and had very little chance of attracting the attention of a rescue organisation. Yet her exceptionally gentle and affectionate nature immediately won our hearts.

Life at Lancrăm was taking its toll on Dana, and it quickly became clear that she was not coping well in the shelter environment. At the end of October, we rescued her and transferred her to Cosmin's shelter in eastern Romania, where she has been waiting ever since.

Dana is a loving, affectionate dog with a calm and gentle personality. She is shy when meeting new people and has never learned to walk on a lead. Being taken out of her kennel is still frightening for her, and she needs a little time for her stress levels to settle before she can relax. Once she feels safe, however, her sweet nature begins to shine through.

We are confident that, once Dana arrives at the sanctuary and is given the time, patience and reassurance she needs, she will grow in confidence, blossom into a wonderful companion and eventually find the loving forever home she deserves.
