Dante's journey began at the Lancrăm high-kill shelter in Transylvania, Romania, where he arrived on 3 June 2025. Like so many dogs entering the shelter, his future was uncertain. By the time Walnut Tree Sanctuary was able to rescue him in early October 2025, he had become rather thin, and it was clear that life in the shelter had not been kind to him.

Dante was transferred to our partner foster, Emma, in Curtea de Argeș, Romania, where he quickly began to flourish. With good care, regular meals, and a safe environment, he has regained all the weight he had lost. In fact, after a few months with Emma, he has become a little bit plump!

Dante is pure joy. Full of life and bursting with energy, he seems to be in constant motion. Taking a good photograph of him is almost impossible because he is always running, playing, or chasing after his favourite ball. His enthusiasm for life is simply contagious.

He adores human attention and will happily come over to ask for cuddles, but don't expect him to stay still for long! As soon as he's had a few strokes, he's off again, racing around with his friends or looking for his next game. Dante loves other dogs, enjoys every opportunity to play, and brings happiness wherever he goes.

Still a young dog, Dante has his whole life ahead of him. After everything he has experienced, he deserves the chance to leave his past behind and begin the wonderful new life that has been waiting for him.
