Doucinelle's journey began at the Lancrăm high-kill shelter in Transylvania, Romania, where she arrived on 27 August 2025. Like so many dogs who entered the shelter, she faced an uncertain future, but it quickly became clear that she deserved a chance to leave that life behind.

Around a month later, in September 2025, Walnut Tree Sanctuary stepped in and rescued her. Doucinelle was transferred to our partner foster, Cera, in Bulbucata, south of Bucharest, where she has been patiently waiting ever since for the next chapter of her life to begin.

Doucinelle is an incredibly affectionate, joyful, and happy dog. She loves people and approaches life with enthusiasm and kindness. Whether she is spending time with humans or enjoying the company of other dogs, her cheerful personality is impossible to miss.

She has also shown herself to be wonderfully adaptable. Doucinelle has been successfully tested with cats, children, and other dogs, proving just how gentle and sociable she is. She is a pleasure to walk, happily exploring the world with her nose close to the ground, taking in every new scent along the way.

She may not fit everyone's idea of the perfect-looking dog, but to us, Doucinelle is truly beautiful. Her warm amber eyes blend perfectly with the colours of her coat, and behind them is an enormous heart, ready to love anyone willing to give her a chance.

After waiting far too long behind kennel bars, Doucinelle deserves to discover what it means to belong to a family. We hope to welcome her to the sanctuary soon, where she can continue her journey towards the loving home she has always deserved.
