Frankie's journey began at the Lancrăm high-kill shelter in Transylvania, Romania, where he arrived in February 2025. For seven long months, he waited behind shelter bars, hoping that one day someone would give him a chance.

That chance finally came when Walnut Tree Sanctuary rescued him and placed him with Elena, one of our trusted partner boarding kennels in Bulbucata, south of Bucharest. There, Frankie finally found safety, stability, and the opportunity to begin rebuilding his confidence.

Frankie is a stunning medium-small boy with a gentle nature and a love for other dogs. In the kennel, he is energetic, playful, and enjoys the company of his canine friends. While he remains a little shy around people, he is also incredibly curious and wants to understand the world around him. Every visit has shown us just how much progress he has made under Elena's patient and dedicated care.

Today, Frankie is doing much better and continues to make steady progress, but his journey is far from over. We believe his next step will be coming to the sanctuary, where one-to-one sessions with our trainer will help him continue building trust in people. He has already come a long way under Elena's care, and with the right support, he has every chance of continuing to grow in confidence.

Once Frankie learns that humans can be trusted again, we have no doubt that he will steal someone's heart. With his handsome looks, sweet personality, and growing confidence, he is a very special dog simply waiting for his chance to shine.
