SIMBA

We found out about Simba on Valentine’s Day through a former member of our staff who had been approached by a French public organization that oversees animal abuse. They had been contacted about a severely abused dog. Simba, at 12 years old, spent every day chained up in a garden. In fact, when we learned about him, there had just been a terrible storm, and he had spent it outside attached to a metal chain without any shelter. It is amazing that he survived.

The situation with Simba was urgent. He needed to be placed that same day, or he would be left where he was. In cooperation with two other animal charities, we agreed that we would act as the emergency rescue center and give him a place to stay for a few nights. He arrived a few hours later and was immediately put into quarantine.Â
Though he should have looked like a bear, after the years without shelter he had hardly any hair. He was hungry and thirsty. During the four days he was with us, he slept a lot, but he also loved playing, getting cuddles, and just being free. It was clear how much it meant to him to not be on a chain.
One of the rescues we partnered with, Les Tatas, placed Simba in a wonderful foster where is happy and thriving. He is walked and even jumps in the river and swims. His fur has grown back, and he is a gorgeous dog. His life attached to the chain in the garden is now very far away.
